Yup, you guessed it! A beginning of the year post! This is the one where I'm supposed to tell you all about my goals slash resolutions for 2013. BUT - I've never been a goal setter and I've never been one to make resolutions. Instead, I make plans! When I say that I'm going to do something, I generally just do it. So, with that said, I am super duper excited about 2013. Here's a look at what I'm registered for so far.
Jan. 5, 2013 - Mississippi Blues Marathon; MS (REGISTERED)
Jan. 20, 2013 - The Louisiana Marathon; LA (REGISTERED)
Mar. 30, 2013 - Viking Half Marathon; MS (REGISTERED)
Apr. 14, 2013 - Hogeye Half Marathon; AR (REGISTERED)
May 4, 2013 - 500 Festival Mini-Marathon; IN (REGISTERED)
May 5, 2013 - Flying Pig Marathon; OH (REGISTERED)Apr. 14, 2013 - Hogeye Half Marathon; AR (REGISTERED)
May 4, 2013 - 500 Festival Mini-Marathon; IN (REGISTERED)
Oct. 12, 2013 - Hartford Marathon; CT (REGISTERED)
Oct. 13, 2013 - Amica Marathon; RI (REGISTERED)
Things that will be new to me:
1 - First "Double" in May!!! I will be running the Indy 500 Half on Saturday May 4 and then the Flying Pig Marathon on Sunday May 5! And I will get to share most of this experience with two great friends (although I wish that I could talk at least one of them into doing the marathon with me on Sunday).
2 - First Marathon "Double" in October!!!! This one both frightens and excites me!!! Two marathons in two days? And I'll have to train in the Mississippi heat?? This one won't be easy!
3 - First Ultra Marathon! I haven't picked one out yet, so no dates yet. Hoping for one in November or December (after my marathon double). I would actually like to do one now because I'm ready for at least a 50k right now, but I can't find one that suits me or fits in around my other races. I'm looking for a sissy "non technical" course (I don't like dirt or mud, I don't want to cross any "creeks", and I don't want to twist my ankle). Suggestions welcome!
4 - New States! Hoping for at least 5 new states in 2013. I will definitely be crossing IN, OH, CT, and RI off my list. I'm thinking that I will also be able to fit MO in there somewhere (probably Mo' Cowbell Half Marathon in October) and possibly something else in the summer.
Of course, I'm always open to adding more races!! I will likely be doing a lot more local half marathons throughout the year!

| Excited to finish this rack off with some awesome bling just in time for my birthday! |
Will I be seeing you at any of my 2013 races?
I'm coming to MS Blues! We are heading over tomorrow! I guess you would be an excellent person to ask about where Team T-Rex should go for dinner and local beers? I am not finding very much on the interwebs and I am starting to panic. It seems like everywhere that serves local beers also only serves bar food, and some demanding members of my traveling circus that shall remain nameless insist on pasta before the race. Help!!
ReplyDeleteYou're hardcore for racing that many marathons in a year. Good Luck in all your races!
ReplyDeleteHa! I'd hardly call what I do racing! More like shuffling.
DeleteOooh I'm going to have to check out some of these races. I had looked at Viking but it conflicted with a new local half so I had to scratch it.
ReplyDeleteI'm excited to do some local races this year. I couldn't do any last year because I was a pacer for a marathon training program and we ran every Saturday morning. But this year I'm not pacing so that means more local races for me! Yay!
DeleteYou certainly make that look like a fun race! (Even if the scenery is blah...) I signed up for it, but had an unexpected scheduling snafu at the last minute. I'm bummed I missed out. :(
ReplyDeleteThe Blues is an awesome good time! I'll be doing it again next year so hopefully you can too! Definitely a race to do because if the medal.
